General Intercessions
Second Sunday
January 19, 2025

Presider: Through your grace we are transformed into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. With faith in your presence, we offer you our prayers.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “God in your Wisdom, hear our prayer.”

1.That Pope Francis, Bishop _______, clergy, religious, lay leadership, and catechists provide each the wisdom to teach and model the good news of how Faith in the Lord brings joy, peace, and love to human life, we pray...

2. That the miracle of the wedding feast of Canna teach us that the Love of God for our parish changes our attitude in living as water is changed to wonderful wine, we pray...

3. That the physical sick and mentally challenged be treated by our parish members as Isaiah’s change from forsaken to my delight, we pray...

4. That our nation rejects violence, unfounded gossip, and discrimination by race, by gender, by national origin, and by wealth or lack of it, we pray...

5. That those whose careers are in service of others, clergy, religious, educators, first responders, military, and healers will view those they service with patience, with full professional care, and with the example of God’s love for each, we pray....

6. That parents practice patience with their children. That parents may have adequate rest and income to sustain their families with food, shelter, health care, and education, we pray...

7. That political organizations move away from cut-throat competition by falsehoods, manipulation of opinion, and begin to understand the love of God is unconditional and change their hatred into care and kindness, their anger into patience, and despair they portray into abiding hope, we pray...

8. That those who died this past week and those dying coming this week are welcomed into the heavenly kingdom by Jesus Christ, our brother. That the intention(s) of this Mass, (list here) _________ is (are) remembered in our prayers at this Mass and during this week, we pray...

9. Let us add our personal intentions in silence: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with our gifts for the community, we pray...

Presider: Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, awaken in us a blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom. This we ask in the name of your Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever.

Response: Amen.
