PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Good Friday (Cycle A)

Celebrant: God calls us from death to Life, so let us, in faith, turn to Him…

 

Deacon/Reader:

 

1. Forgive us for the times we have denied You, Lord… We pray to the Lord. 

 

2. Forgive us for times when we have not spoken of our relationship to You out of fear or embarrassment… We pray to the Lord. 

 

3. Lord Jesus Christ, by your passion and death, teach us how to face our own deaths and times when we feel betrayed or abandoned… We pray to the Lord. 

 

4. Thank you for those who have stood with us or walked with us in times when we feel betrayed or forgotten… We pray to the Lord. 

 

5. For those who seem powerless in the face of persecution our country and in other places in Your world, Lord… We pray to the Lord. 

 

6. We pray for those who have been picked up, imprisoned and/or deported from this country, “the home of the free and the brave”… We pray to the Lord. 

 

7. For those facing war and deadly bombings in their country, especially now in Iran… We pray to the Lord. 

 

8. Bless those, Your people, who accompany the persecuted, the prisoners and the dying this day. We pray to the Lord. 

 

Celebrant: Loving Father, hear us and with the Life of Your Love, guide us always, as we pray in Your Holy Name, through Christ our Lord.
